In 2017 I opened my workshop as Chandos Atelier : Creative Makers on Chandos Road. It has been a space for connection, playful creativity, installations, open studios, workshops, art parties, commemorative making, learning and community cohesion as well as planning, discussing, dreaming and inventing.
Hundreds of children and adults have met and made things.
I have collaborated with other practitioners - musicians, cooks, architects to name a few - to develop fun, creative workshops that lead to new angles, new adventures and new art works.
As well as all this, the building has offered a development of my own creative practice over these years, plus a chance to display my manifesto - “I promise to experiment, to explore the materials from every angle, to make the most of my time in the workshop knowing that whatever I make has value and will not be judged.”
“It’s always such a pleasure to participate in anything that involves Chandos Atelier! Always really creative, fun, and brings a big smile to your face. I think it’s Emma’s attitude of genuine interest in your ideas and her encouragement to explore - there’s no right or wrong - just a great space to try things out, have a think, play some more, feel like you’ve learnt something - about art but also about yourself. We need more spaces like these in our lives. It’s a breath of fresh air and positivity that’s very freeing.”
